The Museum is located in the former Naval Academy, now Petty Officers School, a neo-classical edifice built in 1798. It was opened to the public on March 27th 1992. Worth mentioning is the circular hall with Ionic columns and a stain-glass roof, and a spiral staircase decorated with 18th century Delft glazed tiles.
