The fleet replenishment ship ‘Cantabria’ has set sail once again after a month docked in Garden Island where the ship underwent an intense program of maintenance and training.
During this deployment, the new part of the crew will be able to fully integrate with the rest of the ship’s complement. Two main activities are envisaged: The first one is the collaboration with the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) frigates HMAS ‘Perth’ and HMAS ‘Melbourne’ in Eastern Australia. The second activity includes drills with the logistic ship HMAS ‘Sirius’ and will take place from the 1st to the 4th of July.
As with previous deployments and exercises, the ‘Cantabria’ will embark a detachment of RAN personnel to train and get acquainted with the capabilities of the Spanish replenishment ship.
This operation marks the beginning of the second half of the ‘Cantabria’ deployment in Australia. During this latter period, the ship is scheduled to participate in the multinational exercise ‘Talisman Sabre 13’ and the International Fleet Review to be held next October.
