The Spanish Navy training ship ‘Juan Sebastián de Elcano’ has been rated with the highest grade of Corporate Responsibility awarded by the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration NOAA).

The training ship ‘Juan Sebastián de Elcano’ has received from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) the highest certificate of responsibility (Grade A+) acknowledging her commitment and compliance with restrictions implemented at the Stellwagen whale sanctuary in the North Atlantic.

During her 91st training cruise, specifically between January and May 2019, the vessel transited the area called ‘Stellwgen Bank National Marine Sanctuary’, recognized by the NOAA, where all ships are requested to comply with the program of responsibility that helps reduce the possible deaths or injuries caused to these cetaceans due to collisions at sea. To this end, the NOAA established speed restrictions of less than 10 knots in this area.
