The Spanish Navy's offshore patrol vessel ‘Arnomendi’ has set sail from her base in ‘La Graña’ naval station to carry out the fishing surveillance and inspection campaign included in the Joint Deployment Plan of the European Union (JDP) in waters of the Northeast Atlantic, Cantabrian coast and the Bay of Biscay.
It is an operation sponsored by the European Fisheries Control Agency (EFCA), in which the ‘Arnomendi’ will conduct the specific control of the fishing grounds of demersal (deep-sea) and pelagic fish to ensure the uniform and effective implementation of the conservation and control measures applicable to these species. During this deployment the OPV will embark an inspector from the ‘General Secretariat for Fisheries’ who will perform the assigned tasks of fisheries surveillance and inspection.
The participation of the ‘Arnomendi’ in this campaign will last 12 days. Her return to her home port in Ferrol is scheduled for April 24th.
