The Spanish Navy training ship ‘Juan Sebastián de Elcano’ will conclude her 93rd cruise and will be welcomed by His Majesty the King, Felipe VI.

The training ship ‘Juan Sebastián de Elcano’ is scheduled to arrive at Cadiz on June 13th after a ten-month training cruise around the world. The welcoming ceremony will be presided over by King Felipe VI.

The training ship will be accompanied by the LPD ‘Galicia’ and the Chief of Staff of the Spanish Navy will receive the visiting authorities on board.

The training ship has visited different ports during her 11th round-the-world cruise including Punta Arenas (Strait of Magellan, Chile) in October; Guam (Marianas) in March, Samar and Cebu (Philippines) in March, Ternate and Tidore (Moluccas Islands) in April, coinciding, 500 years later, with the dates of the arrival of the original Magellan-Elcano expedition to those places.

This voyage has been characterized by the compliance with all anti-COVID related measures established prior to her departure. This fact has been a determining factor for the whole crew, whose members have made an enormous effort of self-sacrifice, having been confined on board in each one of the ports the ship visited.

Once the crew and the midshipmen from the 423rd Spanish Navy graduation class and the 153rd Marine Corps graduation class disembark to meet their families, the training ship will proceed towards La Carraca Naval Station, thus wrapping up her 93rd training cruise and her 11th voyage around the globe.
