Frigate ‘Victoria’ returns home after participating in the EUROMARFOR Operation ‘Atalanta’.

The frigate "Victoria" returned last Monday, February 21, to the Rota Naval Base, ending a 144-day deployment after being integrated in the European Naval Force's Operation Atalanta (EUVAVFOR) as command ship.

The welcoming ceremony was presided over by the Commander of the High Readiness Maritime Headquarters (CGMAD) and Commander of Operation Atalanta, Vice Admiral José María Núñez Torrente. Although this is a ceremony that is repeated periodically, it was especially moving for the families who welcomed the ship's crew to the dock.

Since its departure from Rota, the ship has traveled more than 27,000 nautical miles in the Mediterranean Sea, Red Sea and Indian Ocean, visiting seven countries and completing more than 300 flight hours thanks to the AB-212 helicopter of the Third Squadron and the ScanEagles of the Eleventh Squadron of the Aircraft Flotilla.

During the deployment, the frigate performed maritime surveillance and security duties, escorting World Food Program vessels and monitoring fishing activity and illicit traffic. In addition, it acted as the Operation's command ship in two different periods, embarking the Force Commander together with their respective multinational staffs.
