In the second week of the MARSEC-22 Exercise, several drills have been carried out in different scenarios scheduled to conclude on Friday 20th, namely:
MAY 17th: In the Isle of El Hierro (Canary Islands) the OPV ‘Rayo’ participated in an exercise as part of the National Anti-pollution Maritime Plan, deploying a fuel containment barrier to counter an oil spill.
MAY 18th: The offshore patrol vessel (OPV) ‘Furor’ along with other vessels from the Customs Surveillance Agency, simulated the seizure of a suspicious ship carrying drugs. The ship was boarded and inspected by OPV’s personnel.
MAY 17th and 18th: During both days, the rescue ship ‘Neptuno’ carried out in the vicinity of La Algameca, the first phase of a scenario simulating a shipwreck. During the first day its technical assets for locating and identifying the sunken vessel were used, and the second day the specialized divers participated in the located scenario.
