King Felipe VI visited this morning the Stand of the Spanish Navy in the Barcelona International Boat Show which is held at the docks of the ‘Fusta’, ‘Espanya’ and ‘Bosch i Alsina’ located in the Barcelona Port which will be open until next Sunday and is organized by the Barcelona Fair.
During his visit, H.M. the King inaugurated the stand accompanied by the Chief of Staff of the Spanish Navy Admiral General Antonio Martorell Lacave, and other authorities. The Spanish Navy participates in the 60th Edition of the Barcelona International Boat Show from 12 to 16 October, thus maintaining its uninterrupted presence since its first edition, back in 1963.
In addition, the F-80 frigate ‘Canarias’ and the minehunter ‘Segura’ will dock at the port of Barcelona. As in previous editions, and following a long-standing tradition, both ships will participate in different ‘Sea Baptisms’, a term used to describe the first time groups of people put out to sea.
The Barcelona International Boat Show is one of the most relevant and historic boat shows in the world, an event of reference in Spain, where amateurs and professionals from the world of recreational boating, fishing and sailing meet and show their products.
Naval presence in different cities of the Spanish coast, Barcelona in this case with the traditional attendance to its International Boat Show, constitutes a normal activity of the ships of the Spanish Navy, and is a pleasure for us to be able to show our fellow-citizens what we do.
