The Minister of Defense, the AJEMA with other authorities

Yesterday, December 4, the document ‘Armada 2050’ was presented at the conference hall of the Spanish Navy Headquarters.

The event was chaired by the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, accompanied by the Chief of Staff of the Spanish Navy (AJEMA), Admiral General Antonio Piñeiro Sánchez, and was attended, among other authorities, by the Secretary of State for Defense, the Undersecretary of Defense and the Secretary General for Defense Policy.

The AJEMA, in his introductory remarks, outlined the main guidelines of the document highlighting that it represents the Armada's long-term strategic perspective, designed to adapt to an increasingly complex and uncertain environment. He emphasized the need to adapt to a complex environment through planning aligned with national and international strategies, highlighting the collaboration with industry, universities and society, as well as the Armada's commitment to its personnel and its traditional values.

‘When you don't know where you are sailing, no wind is favorable. Every small step in the right direction brings us closer to a stronger, more united and better prepared Armada to protect Spain’.

Subsequently, the Deputy Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Gonzalo Sanz Alisedo, presented the document itself accompanied by a corporate video about it, concluding that this vision for the year 2050 is not just a mere objective; it is a responsibility that each one of us in the Armada has to assume.

Finally, the Minister of Defense stressed the importance of having modern, efficient and prepared Armed Forces for the future, underlining the commitment to work in the right direction so that the Armada continues to be a national and international reference.
