From October 10 to 14, Admiral General Antonio Piñeiro, Chief of Staff of the Armada (AJEMA), participated in the main events of “Navy & Marine Corps 250” (NMC250), commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States Navy in Philadelphia. Under the theme “For Navy and Nation”, the event brought together representatives from more than 70 allied nations.
During his visit, the AJEMA held bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Canada, Peru, and Sweden, as well as a meeting with John Phelan, Secretary of the Navy, where topics of global maritime cooperation and security were discussed.
The AJEMA emphasized that "the Armada's participation in these events highlights Spain's commitment to its allies and to global maritime security." This statement reflects the long and solid collaborative relationship between the Armada and the US Navy, which dates back to the very origins of the US naval service.
Since then, the Armada has provided consistent support to the US Navy, strengthening an alliance based on trust and strategic cooperation, especially visible at Rota Naval Station, which today represents a key point for defense in both, the Atlantic and the Mediterranean.
