The fleet replenishment ship ‘Cantabria’ has concluded the first stage of the multinational exercise ‘Triton Centenary 2013’ with participation of naval units from more than twenty nations.
Taking advantage of the significant presence of warships from all over the world to participate in the Naval Review and celebrate the Centenary of the arrival of the first Royal Australian Navy (RAN) fleet to Sydney, the RAN organized this international exercise as a great opportunity for joint training and expertise and procedures exchanges.
The ‘Cantabria’ was the only logistic ship of the force and carried out eleven replenishments at sea including a vertical replenishment (VERTREP) of a helicopter. The ‘Cantabria’ supplied more than two and a half million liters of fuel for ships and aircraft, apart from provisions and fresh water.
As on previous occasions, an Australian Air Unit embarked but this time with just one helicopter.
