A total of 76 midshipmen and 14 candidates to become Leading Seamen have embarked on the training ship


The ‘Juan Sebastián de Elcano’ has set sail from Cádiz to start her 86th midshipmen training cruise.

On this occasion, 76 midshipmen from the Spanish Naval Academy in their fourth academic year, and 14 candidates to become Leading Seamen from the Ferrol Specialties School have embarked on the training ship.

The purpose of this cruise is to train future naval officers in military, nautical, social, human and academic aspects both at sea and in port, also contributing with her naval presence to support the State’s foreign policy.

The ship is scheduled to call at the following national and international ports: Ceuta, Las Palmas, Rio de Janeiro, Montevideo, Punta Arenas, Valparaiso, El Callao, Veracruz, Pensacola and Boston, with a planned arrival at Marin by the middle of July.
