During a logistic port of call in Victoria (Seychelles) the oceanic patrol vessel (BAM in its Spanish initials) ‘Rayo’ collaborated with the Maritime Police and Coast Guard Service of Seychelles conducting training drills.
These activities are framed within the Local Maritime Capacity Building program in collaboration with the EU mission EUCAP NESTOR, intended to eradicate piracy in the Indian Ocean and Gulf of Aden and to enhance the maritime security capabilities of regional nations.
A Seychelles Maritime Police Unit was briefed on safety issues when lowering or hoisting auxiliary craft. They subsequently conducted a series of drills on craft handling and assault techniques.
On the other hand, Coast Guard servicemen were toured around the ship showing her capabilities in surveillance and maritime security missions, exchanging viewpoints on operational matters with crew members.
