Frigate ‘Almirante Juan de Borbón’ returns home after having been integrated into NATO’s Standing Maritime Group Number One.

The F-100 frigate ‘Almirante Juan de Borbón’ has just returned home after concluding her integration into SNMG-1 (Standing NATO Maritime Group One)

During the deployment, the ship conducted naval presence in the North and the Baltic Seas and took part in exercise ‘Joint Warrior 21-2’ off Scotland. The F-102 also participated in the UK-led ‘Fost’ manoeuvers in the south of Great Britain, thus enhancing her training opportunities in many areas.

SNMG-1 is a multinational task group, this time made up of naval units from Canada, Portugal, Norway, the Netherlands and Belgium, which permitted the interoperability among navies from other NATO member states. During 20 days, the ‘Almirante Juan de Borbón’ operated as flagship of the group and the Canadian Navy Commodore embarked with part of his international Staff.

After having sailed more than 11,000 miles, the F-102 returns home with her embarked air unit (SH-60B helicopter) and a Marine Corps operational security squad, having successfully completed the integration into that Maritime Group and having shown, once more, Spain’s commitment and that of its Armed Forces with NATO.
