Last Wednesday April 3rd, the Cartagena Arsenal saw the departure of the minehunter ‘Sella’ (M-32), on the occasion of her participation in the international exercise ‘Olives Noires’, integrated into the European Maritime Force (EUROMARFOR).
The integration of the ‘Sella’ in the mission serves to strengthen the commitment of Spain and the Spanish Navy with NATO by means of enhancing international security and stability. The positive results come from the constant training and readiness that all the ‘Segura’-class minehunters have been showing since their commissioning.
The participation of the ‘Sella’ in Exercise ‘Olives Noires’ will be supplemented by her contribution to other exercises, namely the Spanish and the Italian MINEX exercises, all of them an integral part of EUROMARFOR. This multinational force, conceived in 1995 by France, Italy, Portugal and Spain in compliance with the missions established in the ‘Petersberg’ Declaration, is capable of carrying out naval, air and amphibious operations.
