The mission of this patrol boat is coastal surveillance of the Gulf of Cádiz, shipping supervision and illegal migration control. The Spanish Navy contributes to the control of possible illegal or non-standardized fishing with this type of vessels.
The P-114’s home port is Ayamonte, a town located in the Guadiana estuary and near the border with Portugal.
The P-114 has an MG machinegun (12.7 mm), as well as rifles and pistols. The boat has an outboard engine Zodiac MARK I.
The patrol boat was built in 1979 in Arenys de Mar (Barcelona) and delivered the same year to the Spanish Navy. During her first operational period she was deployed in Malaga.
As of 1993 the boat was transferred to the city of Ceuta in northern Africa and in December 2022 she was once again transferred, this time to the coastal town of Ayamonte to surveil and protect the territorial waters of that part of Spain.
The crew consists of 9 people: 1 officer, 2 NCOs and 6 ratings.
The most noteworthy mission of the P-114 was the “Romeo Sierra” eviction operation in Perejil Island (July 17th 2002).
