The Colonel, Chief of Staff of the Spanish Marine Corps’ Force, welcomes you to this website of the Headquarters of the MC’s Force (CG-FIM in its Spanish initials).
The main task of the CG-FIM is to assist the Commandant General of the Marine Corps (COMGEIM) in the fulfilment of his command duties.
The CG-FIM is structured into different departments, among them the Private Office of the COMGEIM, the Staff, the Adjutancy and General Services.
Our motto: ‘BRAVE ON LAND AND AT SEA’
The Marine Corps’ Force Headquarters are located in San Fernando (Cádiz), in a newly constructed building on the former grounds of the Marines’ Training Barracks (CIM).
Instruction 52/2009 of July 31, issued by the Chief of Staff of the Spanish Navy (AJEMA), which developed the organization of the Navy, represented a far-reaching change in the organization. Its implementation meant that it was integrated as a Marine Corps’ Force (FIM) into the Navy (FLEET) as one of its main components.
From the readiness perspective, this has facilitated the training of the subordinate units and has been the starting point for continuing the ongoing evolution of its organization and capabilities, which has taken place in the FIM throughout recent history, up to the present day.
These changes have taken place without losing sight of the here and now, and adapting to new scenarios, as the Marine Corps has consistently done throughout its history.
The evolution of the FLEET's organizational structure over the years culminated with its organization established in the Instruction IPF 01/19, in which the FIM remains one of its pillars.
Throughout these years, the FIM, as a whole, has sought effectiveness through full interoperability of its four component units:
Through mutual support, it has sought beneficial synergies for each of its components as a whole, through centralized management of integrated training and decentralized execution in each unit.
As a result of the transformation that has taken place in recent years, the FIM has an adequate organizational structure and a mindset and preparation in line with the needs of current conflicts.
The FIM Headquarters (CG FIM) assists the Commandant General of the Marine Corps (COMGEIM) in his command duties, provides specialized personnel to the peacekeeping staff of the High Readiness Maritime Headquarters (CGMAD) in those missions where the command is exercised by COMGEIM, or as reinforcement in other situations.
The General Command HQ of the Marine Corps moved from the Naval Headquarters in Madrid to its new location in the city of San Fernando (SW Spain) in 2009.
The current building, constructed on the grounds of the former Marines’ Training Barracks (CIM), was officially inaugurated on April 16, 2015 by the Chief of Staff of the Spanish Navy (AJEMA).
