The survey boat is a multi-purpose, deployable vessel that can use either a ‘Geoswath Plus’ portable sounder or a multi-beam sounder. The boat can be towed in a trailer by land. The data collecting capability has a 60 degree aperture in each band and, depending on the depth, up to 400 meters in each scan.

The craft entered service in the Spanish Navy in February 2014 and was homeported at the ‘Puntales’ Naval Station. The following month the ‘Sondaleza’ was assigned to the craft unit of the Spanish Navy Hydrographic Institute.
