Marine Corps (MC) candidates and future soldiers carry out an intense and specialized training on a daily basis. All those activities are aimed at turning these people into true and genuine ‘iron men and women’ willing to serve in the oldest elite force in the world; the authentic ‘offensive punch’ of the Spanish Navy.
Field training is of paramount importance for future MC officers and is usually conducted in a harsh and demanding environment, paying special attention to amphibious operations and taking into account all climate conditions to turn them into efficient Platoon leaders and chiefs. This training includes: tactical and topographical exercises, firing, use of different craft, climbing techniques, fast-rope from helicopters, etc.
Apart from the hard physical tests, psychological training is also an important element of their education. To reach the expected level of training, the students undergo a series of demanding and stimulating trials exclusive of this elite force. The technical and physical training shapes and forges real leaders; lieutenants capable of commanding troops in perfect readiness to accomplish the most difficult, risky and challenging missions in agreement with the traditions of the Spanish Marine Corps and the Navy.
