He was born on June 4th 1960. He joined the Naval Academy in 1979, graduating as Lieutenant Junior Grade in 1984.
He has been Commanding Officer of the minesweeper ‘Sil’, submarine ‘Delfín’, and the oceanic research ship ‘Hespérides’, having participated in several Arctic and Antarctic campaigns.
Other sea assignments included the corvette ‘Diana’ and eleven years of service in the Submarine Flotilla on board the ‘Marsopa’, ‘Mistral’ and ‘Delfín’ as CO. He was also Chief of Operations and Chief of Staff of the Submarine Flotilla.
Ashore, he served in the Foreign Relations Department of the Spanish Navy for a year, and five in the Staff of the Maritime Action Force. His last assignment as Captain was in the Submarine Section of the Logistic Division of the General Staff of the Spanish Navy, actively participating in the development of the S-80 Program.
In March 2017 he was promoted to Rear Admiral and appointed President of the Spanish Section of the SP/US Permanent Committee under command of the General Secretary of Defense Policy.
In February 2019 he was appointed Chief of the Canary Islands Naval Command. On January 28th 2020 he was promoted to Vice Admiral and appointed Chief of the Cartagena Naval base.
He was subsequently promoted to Admiral and appointed Chief of Personnel of the Spanish Navy on March 5th 2024.
He is married to María Engracia Pérez García and has four children and six grandchildren.
