Francisco Ramón Alcoba was born in San Fernando (Cádiz) on October 30th 1962 and joined the Spanish Navy on April 28th 1980. After attending all programmed promotion courses, he became Petty Officer 1st Class in July1989 as an electrician specialist and posted to the Canary Islands’ naval shipyard.
He served on board the attack transport ships ‘Aragón’ and ‘Castilla’, landing craft ‘Conde del Venadito’ and FFG ‘Victoria’.
In 1996 he was assigned to the Aircraft Flotilla (FLOAN) to attend an aircraft maintenance course in Rota Naval Base. He served in the 3rd (AB-212) and 10th (SH-60B) aircraft squadrons, subsequently becoming lecturer in the Aircrew School of the Spanish Navy.
He has attended the following courses: Maintenance of Digital Console Tables; Operators of Control Tables of Gas Turbines LM-2500; Aircraft Maintenance; Electrical Maintenance Training Corse for AB-212 helicopter in Forth Worth (Dallas); Specific Maintenance Corse for SH-60B helicopters; Updating Course for tasks related to the post of Master Chief Petty Officer.
Francisco Ramón Alcoba has participated in the following International Peace-keeping Missions: GULF WAR, SHARP GUARD and KOSOVO on board the frigate ‘Victoria’; as member of the embarked air unit of the 3rd Squadron on board AOR ‘Patiño’ in operation ENDURING FREEDOM (Persian Gulf and Somalia) and operation LIBRE HIDALGO (Lebanon); as member of the embarked air unit of the 10th Squadron on board LPD ‘Galicia’, FFG ‘Navarra’ and OPV ‘Relámpago’ (operation ATALANTA in the Indian Ocean) and in operation UNIFIED PROTECTOR on board the F-100 frigate ‘Almirante Juan de Borbón’.
He has been awarded the following national and international decorations: badge, commendation and cross of the Royal and Military Order of ‘San Hermenegildo’; 4 Naval Merit Crosses; NATO medals (Adriatic, Kosovo and Libya), the Kuwait Liberation Medal and the EU Medal (Operation Atalanta).
His last assignment as Senior Chief Petty Officer was in the naval shipyard of San Fernando where he was Inspector of Works and officer of the Electricity Division.
In July 2018 he was promoted to Master Chief Petty Officer and assigned to the Naval Action Group Num.2
Francisco Ramón Alcoba is married to Africa Cruz Brea and has a son.
