Vice Admiral Enrique Núñez de Prado joined the Spanish Navy in 1985 and graduated as Lieutenant Junior Grade in July 1990.
He has served on board the following units: corvette ‘Descubierta’, patrol boat ‘Cormorán’, amphibious landing ship ‘Hernán Cortés’, frigate ‘Baleares’ and has been Staff Officer of the 31st Escort Squadron.
Vice Admiral Núñez de Prado has been Commanding Officer of the LPD ‘Castilla’, F-100 frigate ‘Cristóbal Colón’, minehunter ‘Duero’ and patrol boats ‘Bergantín and ‘Toralla’.
Ashore, he has been posted in the Strategic Plans Section, the Secretariat of the Spanish Navy Staff, instructor at the Naval Academy and lecturer of Electronic Warfare at the ‘Antonio Escaño’ School. He was Director of the Private Office of the Chief of Staff of the Spanish Navy (AJEMA) and held the port of Spanish Representative in EUROMARFOR’s permanent cell in Toulon (France).
He has an Armed Forces’ Staff diploma and attended a Command Course in the UK and the 58th National Defense Course on ‘The cyberspace as a conflict scenario’. He is a specialist in Electronic Warfare and Tactical Action.
On September 29th 2020 he was promoted to Rear Admiral and appointed Chief of the Telecommunications and Information Systems of the Spanish Navy.
On October 4th 2022 he was appointed Secretary of the Spanish Navy Staff (ASEGEMAR).
On April 28th 2023 he was promoted to Vice Admiral and appointed Chief of the Plans Division (ADIVPLA).
